Mr. Higgins' 4th Grade - Room 4

Welcome to Mr. Higgins’ Web Page

Who is Mr. Higgins?
I have been teaching for eight years and hold a master’s degree in education. This is my first year at Roosevelt, but have taught 4th grade for many years. I feel very fortunate to work with such an amazing team of dedicated, intelligent, and funny teachers and administrators. The best thing about my job is working every day with my enthusiastic and caring students.
Top 5 Reasons Why Room 4 is Fabulous?
5. We have superior standards based curriculum.
4. Bubbles the monkey is back, and will continue to supplement language arts and social studies curriculum.
3. Our daily Language Boards and Math Boards generate potentially huge academic growth in students.
2. I have huge collaborative support from the teachers and administrators, excellent volunteers that work with students and help with my clerical work, and wonderful parents who support the educational goals of the class.
1. My A’s, B, C, E’s, G, H, J’s, K’s, L’s, M’s, T, and V…The best group of students.

What is Project-Based Learning?
Project-Based Learning is an individual or group inquiry-based activity, resulting in a product, written report, presentation, or performance. For example, students may research the Mexican American War and hold a debate each side’s positions.

Ms. Northen, a 3rd grade teacher, and I are piloting a project-based learning program with our TIG students, with the possibility of the program going school wide during the 2008-2009 school year.
